What is the Start/Finish location for the race?
The race start/finish will be at the Bourbon Drive-In Theatre (127 Jackstown Rd, Paris, KY 40361 & US 68).
When and where is packet pickup?
Friday, June 10 from noon-8 p.m.

Can I pick up a packet for a friend or family member?
Yes, please bring a copy of their race registration confirmation.
Will you have race day packet pickup?
Yes, we will offer race day packet pickup at the Bourbon Drive-In from 6-7:30 a.m.
What nutrition will be served on the course?
We will have a total of 7 hydration stations for the Half Marathon, 5 of the 7 will serve water and Sword Hydration in cups. We also will have Clif Energy Gels available at each hydration station. Hydration stations are spaced approximately 1.5-1.75 miles apart.
Will there be porto-potties on the course?
Yes, we will have a total of 38 porta-potties at the start/finish area and 2 porto-potties at/near each hydration station on the course.
Will there be a gear check at the Start/Finish area?
Yes, we will offer a gear check. To retrieve your gear just let the volunteers know your bib number.
Will there be clothes drops along the course?
Yes, we will offer clothes drops at our 4 hydration stations. Gear dropped at these stations will be brought back by volunteers at the conclusion of the race. With a 10:30 a.m. finish for our slowest competitors in the Half Marathon, we don’t expect the clothes to be brought back until about 11 a.m. You can retrieve your clothing items at the Gear Check tent.
What is your race transfer policy?
Unfortunately, refunds are not available. However, we do allow complimentary race transfers until April 22, 2016 without penalty. From April 22-May 17, 2016 you may transfer with a $15 fee. Transfers after May 17, 2016 will be a $20 fee and the new runner will not receive a personalized bib. To execute a transfer prior to May 18, search for your registration using the link on our home page choose to transfer as a gift to the new runner or transfer for refund so you receive a partial refund and the new runner pays for their new registration. Have you changed your mind and want to transfer your registration from the Half Marathon to the 10 Miler or 4 Miler or vice versa? You may transfer between events until May 17, 2016. After that time we will not be able to order your personalized bib in time for the event. You will pay the difference in registration prices when transferring from 4 Miler or 10 Miler to the Half Marathon.
Are there any race refunds?
There will be no race refunds under any circumstances.
How will the race be timed?
All three races (4 miler, 10 Miler and Half Marathon) will be chip timed by 3 Way Racing using their “chip on bib” RFID technology. You will need to wear your bib on your chest/stomach area (in view for timers and volunteers) in order to ensure accurate timing. You will receive an email with your finishing time, and we’ll have streaming live results at results.3wayracing.com.
Who are the charitable beneficiaries of the Bourbon Derby?
Proceeds will benefit local Paris Agricultural & Horse related industries/groups along with Paris and Bourbon County Educational Programs including our newly formed Scholarship, Blanton’s Bourbon Derby FFA Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a well deserving graduating senior Bourbon County FFA member who is enrolling into college in the Fall in an Agricultural/Engineering field major. We awarded 7 Blanton’s Bourbon Derby FFA Scholarships last year (2015). We also plan on announcing our other soon to be chosen 2016 benefactors.
What surface will we be running on?
The entire course for all three race distances will be paved roadway.
What is your severe weather policy/plan?
If we have severe weather (thunder/lightning) we will work with local police to determine if we can wait out the storm and proceed with the race. If we have to cancel the race there will be no refunds but registrants will receive a discount code for next year’s race.
Is parking available near the start/finish?
Yes, we have ample parking at the Bourbon Drive In Theatre and at the farm across the street on Jackstown Road.
Are there any spectator areas on the course?
The corner of Jackstown Road and Glenn Road (mile 1.5 & 11.6) is an area where spectators will be permitted. They will need to drive there via Middletown Road to Glenn Road and park their vehicle on the side of Glenn Road. We also are working to have a spectator viewing area at mile 4.75 off Tarr Road. We will not allow vehicles on the run course.
What horse farms will we be running through?
You will run approximately 3 miles on the property of Adena Springs Farm and 1.7 miles on the property of Hillcroft Farm for the Half Marathon. 10 Miler runners will run the 3 miles on Adena Springs Farm. The 4-miler goes through Whispering Oaks Farm.
How will I learn my race time/result?
If we have your email address you will receive an email with your finishing time following the race. We will also have live streaming results available at results.3wayracing.com. We will have a race results kiosk where you can get your race time. We’ll also post printed results on our timing trailer and post online overall and age group results on our website 3wayracing.com by early afternoon following the race.
How would you characterize the course in terms of hills?
The course is generally rolling hills with some flat areas. We would characterize the course as being moderately hilly but fairly typical for our area. Course maps are available on the Course Maps page on this website.
How will the course be marked to keep runners on course?
The course will be marked with bright yellow arrow signs, mile markers and safety cones where necessary. We will also have lead bike escorts for the 10 Miler and Half Marathon. On-course marshals/pointers will be stationed at key turns and turnarounds.
What are your age divisions?
0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+, There will also be awards for top 3 masters (over 40) and grand masters (over 50)
Will there be awards for all three races (4-miler, 10 Miler, Half Marathon)?
Yes, we will provide Overall and AG group awards for all three races. These will be three deep (1st, 2nd, 3rd) for male and female.
Will the race be sanctioned by USATF?
Will there be medical personnel on-site at the race?
Yes, we will have medical personnel at the start/finish and out on the course. Volunteers and course marshals will have the phone number of the medical personnel if you should need assistance.
Will finishers receive a medal?
Finishers medals will be presented to all 4-Miler, 10-Miler, and Half Marathon finishers.
Will the course be closed to vehicular traffic?
We are working with the Bourbon County Sheriff who will be blocking the roads to vehicular traffic. We may encounter a local resident or two who drive out from their residence. Just stay to the side of the road if you encounter a vehicle.
Is there a pace limit for the Half Marathon?
The Half Marathon will have a 18 minute/mile pace limit. If any Half Marathon competitors have not made the 10-Miler turnaround point (approximately mile 6.5) within that 18-mile limit they will disqualified from the Half Marathon competition and asked to turn with the 10 Miler runners. Their time will be recorded as a 10 Miler time. This will allow for a 4 hour, 15 minute maximum duration event (7:30-12 noon).
